MacOS — Viewing Text Comfortably On A 4K or 5K Display

Per-App setting

I work on macOS and have a HP U28 4K monitor.

I wanted to divide the monitor into 4 parts so that I could have 4 windows side by side in a 2 x 2 matrix.

When I resized my various windows, I found that I could hardly read the text in the native resolution of 3840 x 2160.

I did not want to jump down to 1920 x 1080 because then the windows would be too large for my liking.

And other resolutions (e.g. 3008 x 1692 etc) were low resolution due to DisplayLink issues.

I did not want to jump to a lower resolution and neither did I want to lose text clarity

So in this article I will explain how I individually tweaked each application (Outlook for mac, Chrome for mac, Teams for mac) to zoom in the text at an application level.

Outlook (macOS)

Go To Settings > General and click on the + symbol in the Text Display Size until its maxed out.

This made Outlook tolerable as the text was now larger and easier on the eyes on the same 4K resolution.

Chrome (macOS)
